The Znakomici.pl film group is putting together an interview with Sister Małgorzata Chmielewska, Superior of the "Bread of Life" Community. The interview will be available to watch on Christmas Eve as part of the “Essential Conversations” cycle on the TVP Culture Channel.
The community, which was founded in 1976, developed in Aigle and took its final shape in 1981. On 23 June 1984, on the eve of Corpus Christi and the Feast Day of St. John the Baptist it received canonical recognition from the Bishop of Bayeux-Lisieux, as a society of the faithful. The definitive canonical confirmation of the Statute of Community took place on 23 June 1990.
In Poland the Community was set up in 1990. From a small house in Bulowice near Kęty it has grown to encompass seven houses. The community houses are open to anyone who finds themselves in a difficult situation. The centre of their life is the Eucharist. The community gathers around Christ together with the poor and children. It offers practical help – a roof over their heads, social and medical assistance and helps them to supplement their education and acquire a profession.
The Znakomici.pl film studio has been producing interviews and documentaries for many years. These are productions for Polish television. In our work we try to show men as they are. In this case we were moved by the story as you, our viewers, will soon see for yourself.
